So far I've mostly used Cascade 220 for Aran-style knitting. It gives me good stitch definition and seems to work well with a good range of needle sizes. The recommended sizes may be 7-8 US, but it is thin enough to be pretty nice with 5 or 6 also. 9 is a bit loose.

Some might think it a bit soft, but it is nice and round and makes nice cables. This rose heather is being used for an afghan being knit in strips and the heather is working beautifully for that. It is rather easily split if your needles are too pointy, but unless you're trying to break world records for knitting speed, that is easily remedied. You just have to look at your knitting once in a while!
