The Alpaca Ultra Light Sock DG-ULT is one of the best socks money can buy. They are durable, wick moisture well, have plenty of padding and because they are made of Merino and Alpaca wools, they will never itch. These socks are perfect for low volume running shoes or hiking boots where you need a little less sock on the top of your foot without sacrificing padding below. Don't just wear these in cool temps. Anything but heavy wool socks are perfect for summer. Unlike Dahlgren Alpaca Hiking Socks DG-HLV which is so short that it is nearly a quarter sock, this crew is plenty long in the ankle. I own at three pair of these socks and many of the other models too.
The phone staff and manager are real helpful. Called me up to let me know that a color was not available. Suggested a substitute. I could not be happier.

I've been using Dahlgren hiking socks (light or regular) for the last six years. I day hike around 50 to 100 miles a month. During these several thousand miles of hiking, I didn't get a single blister.
The older models Dahlgren hiking socks did tend to wear out relatively rapidly, but the newer models are not only comfortable but also last a long time.
They are the best socks I've ever used.
Delivery was prompt and product arrived as ordered.

I use these socks whenever I hike and have been very unhappy that REI has stopped carrying them. I think I will now have to order them online. I have tried Smart Wool and other brands but they all seem to move inside the boot whereas the Dahlgren sock for me stays put and has no area that irritates my feet. [...]

My wife has very sweaty feet when we hike and so far these socks have kept her feet cool and dry compared to other socks. Only four stars because we have to see how they stand up to the wear and tear of our long hiking days. I am thinking about purchasing a pair of these socks for myself as well.

Since I bought socks from Alpaca about 4 years ago I have not bought anything else. This is the only sock shop for me. They are durable, great quality and the most comfortable socks I ever owned.
