"Light" for hiking means medium weight for all-around use. I wear them for mountain biking, light hiking, tree climbing, teaching, and even dressing up (in black). With these socks, even dress shoes are comfortable. The socks are snug without constricting, loose without bunching, stay close to the foot, and are comfortable at temperatures from 40 - 80 Fahrenheit. With my heated insoles, I wear them to 20. But otherwise they're not for cold weather or hot weather use. They never pill and they last.

I will be using these socks for day hikes. I like the lightweight socks for my lighter hiking shoes. I haven't used these socks before but I have used the backpacking socks so I believe these socks have the same quality and great design features as the other socks.

my feet sweat and are always cold I would have to change my white socks 2 or 3 a day. not anymore these socks are wonderful about taken moisture away and keeping my feet at the perfect temp I wear the med and light weight all year long. Thanks for making these socks!!!!

I have been a long distance backpacker for over 15 yrs and have never worn a better sock. I have completed the PCT and AT while hiking in Dahlgren socks. This year I'll be hiking the PNT and yes, I will be wearing my Alpacas. I used to buy them at [...] but they discontinued them...thank Mother Earth for on-line shopping! See you on the trail!!
