I spun this on my Ashford traditional. After learning some tricks in my spinning lessons, I've been able to treat the roving I received much more appropriately as I spin. The alpaca has a very nice draft and it is even when I'm spinning. I can get into a rhythm. I dyed some roving (about 4 oz) in the crock pot. My dyeing skills are not up to par yet either so I'm sure the white spots that were left are my fault and not the fault of the fiber. However, when it spun up the other colors went well with the white that gave it a spiral effect. I'm sure when I ply these two together it will be beautiful either way.

I'm brand new to spinning of any kind, and I use a drop spindal (bottom). This rove was only the second type of wool I had ever used, and it worked beautifully.
