Comments about More Big Girl Knits: 25 Designs for Curvy Women Pattern Book:
I bought this book, sight unseen, to give to a friend. After reading it, though, I would not give this book to anyone. Is barbarism making a comeback? Why would anyone use profanity and disgusting language to communicate? Why not use clean, clear writing that communicates with graceful humor and with kindness? How about some class? This book is thoroughly disgusting in its language.
I checked out the first book from the library and read it also to compare the two. The main recommendations I got from these books are 1) use short rows to accommodate the bust, 2) decrease for the waist and knit straight for 2 inches before increasing for the bust, 3) use side panels and darker colors to shape, 4) use yarn that knits up at 5 sts or more per inch, 5) use as low a neck as possible to show as much skin as possible, and 6) use smaller motifs and gentle texturing (seed stitch, lace).
The designs in the first book I would never use (for example, knitted skirts). The designs in the second book are more reasonable and practical (socks). The second book includes a plain vanilla pattern based on your measurements that helps you to knit a basic shape that you can add your own texture stitches to.
